Amman, April 8 (Petra) -- Senator Jamal Sarairah met Wednesday with Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Guo Wei, to discuss enhancing relations, particularly in trade and economic sectors.

Sarairah highlighted the close Jordan-China ties, noting His Majesty King Abdullah II’s directives as a solid foundation for advancing relations along with Beijing's commitment to broaden cooperation.

He reaffirmed Jordan’s firm stance in supporting regional stability and promoting security and peace through dialogue and diplomatic solutions.

Sarairah reiterated Jordan’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution, emphasizing the protection of Palestinian rights and regional justice.

The senator also stressed Jordan’s historical custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and condemned Israeli violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque, including closures, and underlined respect of Palestinian prisoners’ rights under international humanitarian law.

Sarairah noted Jordan’s attractive investment opportunities due to its strategic location and business-friendly environment, urging increased Chinese investment, particularly in infrastructure and energy projects, which enhance growth and mutual interests. He also highlighted joint Jordan-China projects as a key pillar for strengthening the strategic partnership.

The Chinese envoy expressed his country’s commitment to deepening relations with Jordan across multiple fields, particularly economic and trade cooperation, and supporting investment projects to achieve sustainable development for both nations.

The meeting also addressed regional developments, emphasizing the need to reduce tensions, prioritize diplomatic solutions, uphold ceasefire agreements, and prevent escalation in the Iran-U.S.-Israel conflict to promote regional security and stability.
