Amman, April 5 (Petra) -- Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh said development zones across the kingdom have achieved tangible progress in recent months in attracting new investments and expanding existing projects.
He said the results reflect sustained government efforts and effective partnerships with the private sector, which have helped accelerate activity within development zones and enhance their appeal to both local and international investors, signaling a clear improvement in the efficiency of the investment environment.
"Official data and performance indicators show growth in several projects and utilized land areas at varying rates, in some cases nearly doubling, alongside improvements in services and infrastructure, streamlined procedures for investors, and the provision of a more efficient and flexible business environment," he added.
Abu Ghazaleh made the remarks during a meeting on Sunday with developers of development and free zones to review key achievements in the first quarter of 2026 and follow up on expansion and development plans for the next phase.
He said the ministry will continue to enhance the performance of development and free zones as a national priority to support regional development, boost economic activity, and create job opportunities in line with the Economic Modernization Vision.
During the meeting, he announced the launch of a new digital platform developed by the ministry to connect it with development zones, aimed at strengthening governance, facilitating data collection through a clear methodology, and improving efficiency and coordination.
He said the platform represents a qualitative step towards providing accurate indicators to measure the performance of development zones based on the defined roles and responsibilities of developers under relevant laws, regulations and agreements, helping meet investor needs and deliver more efficient services.
The minister also highlighted a geographic portal introduced on the ministry’s "Invest.jo" website, noting its role in facilitating access to investment opportunities across development and industrial zones and various sectors through digital tools that support investment decision-making.
For their part, development zone developers stressed the importance of ongoing coordination with the ministry, which they said has contributed to improving the performance and outputs of development zones, supporting economic growth and local community development across governorates by attracting further investment.
