Jordan, Egypt Discuss Regional Escalation Ahead of Arab League Meeting

Amman, March 8 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi held a phone call on Sunday with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, to discuss the repercussions of the dangerous escalation in the region.
The talks came as part of ongoing coordination ahead of the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council, where Safadi and Abdelatty reviewed prospects for ending the crisis, restoring calm, de-escalating tensions, and pursuing diplomacy as the path to strengthening security and stability.
Safadi reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of what he described as unjustified Iranian attacks on Jordanian territory and on several Arab countries, stressing that the Kingdom will take all necessary and available measures to protect its citizens, security, stability and sovereignty.
He also affirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in all steps they take to confront Iranian attacks and safeguard their citizens, security and stability.
For his part, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks on Jordan and expressed his country’s solidarity with the Kingdom.
