Amman, Jan. 7 (Petra) – Khalil Haj Tawfiq, Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce, stated that the Jordan-European Union Summit, convening in Amman this Thursday, marks a pivotal moment in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two sides.
The summit builds on the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement signed last year in Brussels.
In a statement to Petra, Haj Tawfiq noted that the summit serves as an international message of confidence in the Jordanian economy and the Kingdom’s role in regional stability.
He highlighted the summit as a key opportunity to discuss the implementation of the €3 billion EU financial support package allocated for 2025–2027, which includes €640 million in grants, €1.4 billion in investments, and approximately €1 billion in macro-financial assistance.
According to recent data, trade between Jordan and the EU has seen a significant upward trend. In the first ten months of last year, Jordanian exports to the EU reached JD520 million, a 45.6 percent increase compared to the JD357 million recorded during the same period in 2024. Imports from the EU also rose by 12.3 percent, totaling JD2.647 billion.
Haj Tawfiq, who also serves as Vice President of the Arab-French and Arab-German Chambers of Commerce, emphasized that Jordan’s logistical infrastructure and strategic location position it as a regional hub for supply chains and cross-border trade.
He pointed out that the Amman Chamber of Commerce currently has 260 registered partners from EU countries, with a total registered capital of JD740 million across sectors including services, technology, energy, and healthcare.
The summit is expected to facilitate deeper dialogue between the Jordanian private sector and European economic institutions. Focus areas include enhancing the access of Jordanian food, pharmaceutical, and chemical products to European markets and attracting investments in green economy projects, water, and transport–all of which align with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision.
Haj Tawfiq reaffirmed the commitment of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce to translate the summit’s outcomes into tangible economic opportunities, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and fostering joint production partnerships that drive national growth and job creation.
