Amman, March 16 (Petra) -- Minister of Youth Raed Adwan met with a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to discuss enhancing youth participation in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security.
Adwan highlighted Jordan’s leading role in promoting youth engagement in peace and security, noting that Resolution 2250 reflects the efforts of HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II during his presidency of the UN Security Council session in 2015. Jordan also chaired the committee to develop the Arab Strategy on Youth, Peace, and Security, launched in Amman under the Crown Prince’s patronage, and the Cabinet approved the national plan to implement the resolution, providing a framework for youth empowerment and participation in peace and security initiatives.
GIZ’s Civil Peace Service (CPS) Program coordinator, Lilly von Stackelberg, stressed that supporting active and meaningful youth participation is a core priority of the program, working with partners to engage youth in peace-building and community initiatives and strengthening dialogue and social cohesion.
Yasmin Sadoun, Director of the Good Governance and Communities Projects Cluster at GIZ, speaking alongside Education and Youth Advisor Mohammad Ahmaro, noted that youth remain a priority across several agency programs, reflecting their crucial role in societal development and positive social change.
