Amman, July 29 (Petra) – Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Mexico's Foreign Minister, Roberto Velasco, discussed strengthening ties and addressing regional developments.
In a telephone call on Wednesday, Safadi and Velasco agreed to activate regular rounds of political consultations between their foreign ministries under a 2015 memorandum of understanding.
The first round is scheduled for the end of 2026, and the two ministers will meet on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September to discuss practical steps to expand cooperation and coordination.
Safadi briefed his counterpart on developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, highlighting the worsening situation in the occupied West Bank as a result of what he described as illegal Israeli measures and ongoing violations in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Safadi congratulated Velasco on his appointment and expressed his commitment to working closely with him to strengthen Jordanian-Mexican relations and enhance coordination on issues of mutual interest.
