Amman, July 28 (Petra) – Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, discussed on Tuesday ways to strengthen ties and expand cooperation.

In a telephone call, the two ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in all sectors and maintaining close coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Safadi and Bourita reviewed regional developments, particularly the deterioration in the occupied West Bank and the serious escalation resulting from it, calling for concerted efforts to halt the escalation.

The two ministers condemned the illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank that undermine the prospects for a two-state solution, as well as Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

They called for preserving the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites and rejected any measures aimed at altering it.

They affirmed that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims and that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, affiliated with Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal authority responsible for administering all affairs of the mosque and regulating entry to it.

Safadi and Bourita discussed ongoing efforts to ensure adherence to the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Israel.

They reaffirmed their support for these efforts and called for reaching a comprehensive agreement that guarantees freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, addresses the underlying causes of regional tensions and contributes to lasting security and stability.
