Jordan, Oman Talk Closer Civil Aviation Cooperation

Amman, May 18 (Petra) -- Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) Chief Commissioner Daifallah Alfarajat and Oman's Ambassador Sheikh Fahad Bin Abdul Rahman Alojaili discussed on Monday ways to expand aviation relations, including charter flights, to boost tourism and trade.

The meeting, which was attended by Yaqoub bin Badr Al-Ruqaishi, Minister-Plenipotentiary and Deputy Head of Mission at the Omani Embassy, along with CARC board members, focused on operating charter flights between the Omani city of Salalah and Amman, particularly during peak tourist seasons, with the aim of facilitating passenger movement and stimulating commercial activity.

Talks also covered increasing the frequency of air cargo flights between Jordan and Oman to support trade flows and the movement of goods.

Alfarajat underscored the deep and historic relations between Jordan and Oman, stressing the commission's commitment to removing obstacles and providing the necessary facilities to support growth in passenger and cargo traffic.

He also urged cooperation in aviation training and safety as priority areas.

The Omani ambassador praised the standard of Jordan's civil aviation sector, and said his country looks forward to broadening cooperation that would benefit both countries' economic and tourism sectors.
