Riyadh, Nov. 16 (Petra) – Jordan, represented by the Ministry of Culture, is currently taking part in the third edition of the Saudi International Handicrafts Week (Banan 2025), which launched in Riyadh.

Inaugurated by the Saudi Minister of Culture, His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the event features over 400 craftspeople from more than 40 countries worldwide.

The week, which will run during November 13-26, aims to highlight, support, and empower artisans economically and culturally, as well as promoting cultural exchange among the world's peoples through traditional arts and crafts.

In remarks to "Petra" Sunday, Head of the Heritage Programs Department at the Ministry of Culture's Heritage Directorate, Diala Kassab, said Jordan's participation in this global event stems from the Ministry of Culture's commitment to showcasing Jordanian cultural heritage and promoting authentic national crafts.

Kassab, who is overseeing the Jordanian pavilion, added that the ministry places "remarkable" importance on these exhibitions, which provide an opportunity to enhance presence of Jordanian crafts in regional and global markets and promote handmade products that support and empower craftspeople.

Kassab added: "The Ministry of Culture is working to advance Jordan's crafts sector by supporting international participation and providing training programs and marketing initiatives that promote sustainability of traditional crafts in the Kingdom's various governorates." Additionally, she affirmed the ministry's efforts to open "new" horizons for Jordanian artisans through international platforms that highlight their skills and exchange expertise with their global counterparts.

In the Jordanian pavilion, participating artisans presented a diverse array of Jordan's traditional crafts and handmade products that reflect "richness" of Jordanian heritage.
