Amman, Nov. 6 (Petra)-- Jordan is taking part in the 30th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), held in Belém, Brazil, with broad international participation from world leaders, government representatives, international organizations, and civil society.
The Jordanian delegation to the conference is headed by Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman, representing His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Jordan’s participation in this important global event reaffirms the Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to international climate action and its determination to contribute effectively to global efforts aimed at addressing the challenges of climate change and promoting international cooperation to achieve environmental and developmental sustainability.
The Kingdom also emphasizes the importance of fair and equitable climate action, especially in light of the growing challenges faced by developing countries as a result of climate change.
Jordan continues to invest in climate adaptation and in strengthening the resilience of communities and ecosystems, particularly in vital sectors such as water, agriculture, and energy.
The country also underscores the importance of fair and equitable climate financing and the need to fulfill international commitments toward developing nations, enabling them to implement their nationally determined contributions and achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
During the conference, the Jordanian delegation will present the Kingdom’s experience in climate adaptation and in implementing the National Climate Change Strategy 2050, which aims to build a sustainable green economy and enhance the resilience of key sectors, in line with Jordan’s international commitments in this field.
Jordan will also reaffirm its commitment to reducing carbon emissions, in accordance with reports submitted under the 2015 Paris Agreement, which seeks to limit global temperature rise to well below 2 C above pre-industrial levels, while pursuing efforts to restrict it to 1.5 C.
Moreover, Jordan will stress the importance of working collectively with all countries and parties to confront climate change by enhancing international partnerships, exchanging expertise, and ensuring the provision of the necessary finance and support to implement climate commitments contributing to a more sustainable and just future for coming generations.
Jordan’s participation in COP30 builds on its active role in international forums and reflects its dedication to the principles of global cooperation and climate justice, in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision of positioning Jordan as a model of responsible and sustainable climate action.
