Amman, Nov. 24 (Petra) -- Jordan and Saudi Arabia have signed a new cooperation program aimed at enhancing joint work in judicial fields, reinforcing the deep ties between the two kingdoms.
The agreement was signed by Jordanian Minister of Justice Dr. Bassam Al-Talhouni and Saudi Minister of Justice Dr. Walid Al-Samaani as part of the Arab Riyadh Agreement for Judicial Cooperation, one of the key foundations of collective Arab judicial development.
Al-Talhouni said the newly signed program reflects the strength of relations between the two countries and underscores their shared commitment to advancing integration in judicial and legal matters. He noted that the agreement supports collaboration in areas such as judicial assistance and the implementation of court rulings, contributing to justice and the rule of law.
He added that the program aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge about legal and judicial systems in both countries, develop legislation, and expand the use of modern tools to streamline litigation procedures and enhance the quality of justice services.
The cooperation framework includes a wide range of initiatives, including exchanging information on judicial organization, newly enacted justice sector legislation, and the outcomes of legal conferences held by both parties. It also promotes the exchange of best practices through joint meetings and reciprocal expert visits.
According to Al-Talhouni, the program will allow both sides to benefit from shared experiences in utilizing technology within courts and judicial institutions, as well as in developing mechanisms to improve access to justice, including the provision of legal aid.
It also supports cooperation in alternative dispute resolution and opens opportunities for training legal experts, researchers, and administrative staff through seminars, courses, and workshops hosted by either country.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the Second International Judicial Conference, hosted in Riyadh on Nov. 23–24.
