AMMAN, Aug. 15 (Petra) The Jordan-Saudi Business Council is set to hold a high-level meeting in Amman later this month, hosted by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, with active participation from business leaders, investors, and economic sector representatives from both nations.

The upcoming gathering serves as a follow-up to the council's previous meeting held in Riyadh last January, aiming to translate strategic recommendations and emerging opportunities into actionable, executable projects and partnerships.

According to a statement released by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, the Amman sessions will review the progress of the council's specialized sectoral committees, evaluate the implementation of prior agreed-upon initiatives, and address existing hurdles facing bilateral trade and investment development.

Discussions will center on key economic sectors, including trade and investment, industry and energy, agriculture and food security, health and pharmaceuticals, transport and logistics, and information technology and digital commerce, with the ultimate objective of establishing concrete, joint initiatives for the upcoming phase.

Senator Khalil Al-Hajj Toufic, President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and head of the Jordanian side of the council, emphasized that Saudi Arabia remains a strategic economic and investment partner for Jordan. He noted that bilateral relations are anchored in deep historical ties, mutual economic interests, and expansive private-sector-led opportunities.

Al-Hajj Toufic reported that bilateral trade volume reached 4.18 billion dinars last year, with Jordanian exports accounting for approximately 1.23 billion dinars, cementing Saudi Arabia's position as Jordan's top Arab trading partner.

Furthermore, investment ties form a core pillar of the bilateral partnership, with Saudi investments in Jordan valued at approximately 16 billion dollars, alongside Jordanian investments in Saudi Arabia approaching 8 billion dollars.

Describing the upcoming council meeting as a pivotal milestone, Al-Hajj Toufic stressed the shift from broad recommendations to practical execution, focusing on clear priorities, actionable frameworks, and defined timelines. He added that the recent reopening of the council's office at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce has strengthened institutional operations, establishing a permanent channel for the business communities to monitor projects and resolve operational challenges.

Established in 1997, the council serves as an institutional framework to advance economic, commercial, and investment ties, empower private sector partnerships, encourage joint ventures, and streamline cross-border trade.
