Jordan, Shanghai Investment Company Explore Cooperation Opportunities

Amman, Oct. 22 (Petra) Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh on Wednesday met with a delegation from Shanghai Investment Company to discuss ways to enhance investment cooperation and explore opportunities in Jordan’s waste management sector.
Abu Ghazaleh emphasized the ministry’s commitment to attracting quality investments in sustainable environmental sectors that support the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision. He noted that the waste management sector is a promising field in Jordan, offering opportunities in sorting, recycling, and strengthening the circular economy system, thereby contributing to green growth and creating quality jobs.
He explained that the ministry is working to create a business-friendly environment by developing legislation and providing investor incentives, as well as strengthening partnerships with the private sector in environmentally oriented projects.
The two sides discussed technical cooperation with China’s Qinglv Environmental, a company specializing in smart waste sorting and recycling solutions, to support value chains in circular economy projects.
Representatives of the company outlined their activities and expertise in investment, management, planning, consulting, engineering, and construction, employing around 400 specialists across various fields. They expressed interest in exploring opportunities with Jordan in waste management projects and applying circular economy practices to promote sustainable development.
The company delegation also expressed appreciation for the ministry’s efforts to improve the business environment and facilitate procedures for investors, noting that Jordan represents a promising destination for Chinese investment in the region due to its strategic location and legislative and economic stability.
