Amman, April 21 (Petra) -- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, received Chief of the Spanish Defense Staff, Admiral General Teodoro Esteban Lopez Calderon, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday at the Jordan Armed Forces General Command.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation across various military fields and enhance the exchange of expertise in support of greater efficiency and preparedness in addressing current challenges.

Huneiti said Jordanian-Spanish relations are built on solid foundations of shared visions and aspirations aimed at confronting a range of challenges, stressing the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the two armed forces through the exchange of expertise and capabilities.

For his part, Calderon praised the strength of ties between the two countries and commended Jordan's prominent role in promoting regional security and stability amid current regional conditions.

In the presence of the Spanish ambassador and military attache in Amman, as well as several senior Jordan Armed Forces officers, Huneiti and the delegation received several briefings on modernization efforts within the Jordan Armed Forces and on proposed areas of cooperation between the two militaries, in line with developments across the region.

In a related event, Huneiti and Calderon observed a field exercise at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC), carried out by the King Abdullah II Royal Special Forces.

The drill featured operational scenarios simulating responses to contemporary security challenges and demonstrated an advanced level of planning, execution, and use of modern technologies, reflecting the development of the Jordan Armed Forces' military capabilities and their ability to respond under different conditions.
