Amman, April 7 (Petra) -- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, received on Tuesday, the Syrian Chief of the General Staff, Maj. Gen. Ali Al-Naasan, and the accompanying delegation.

Huneiti and the delegation discussed ways to strengthen joint military cooperation between the two countries, stressing Jordan's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to supporting Syria in a way that reinforces the two countries' historic ties and contributes to security and stability.

During the meeting, which was attended by a number of senior officers, Huneiti said the Jordan Armed Forces are ready to deploy their capabilities and resources across various fields in a manner that serves shared interests and strengthens the national security of both countries.

Al-Naasan expressed appreciation for Jordan's supportive positions toward Syria in confronting challenges, praising the depth of ties between the two countries and the importance of further developing them in a way that serves mutual interests.

The meeting also reviewed issues of common concern and stressed the need to continue coordination in addressing regional challenges, particularly in counterterrorism and drug smuggling.
