Irbid, June 20 (Petra) – Irbid Chamber of Industry Chairman Hani Abu Hassan and head of Daraa Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Syria Nash’at Rifai met on Saturday to discuss facilitating the entry of businesspeople, as well as enhancing economic and investment cooperation between Jordan and Syria.
During the meeting, attended by Jaber Border Crossing director Col. Mohammad Dayabat, Hassan called the crossing a vital artery for trade and investment between the two countries.
He said streamlining procedures for investors and industrialists contributes to stimulating economic activity and opening broader horizons for trade and investment cooperation between the two sides.
Hassan said the next phase requires economic integration and a more flexible environment for the movement of businesspeople and goods, which will positively impact trade and promote new projects and investments that serve both the Jordanian and Syrian economies.
The Daraa chamber head also stressed the importance of coordination between private sector institutions and official bodies in both countries, and working to address hurdles investors may face.
For his part, Dayabat reviewed efforts made to improve services at the Jaber border crossing and facilities to travelers, investors, and freight traffic. He said the center's management is committed to enhancing operational efficiency and providing the best possible services to keep pace with a growing trade and transit volume.
