Amman, April 7 (Petra) -- Khaled El Fanatseh, head of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU), met with Fawaz al-Ahmad, head of the General Federation of Syrian Trade Unions, in Amman on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral labor ties and regional cooperation.
In a GFJTU statement, the two sides discussed the implementation of a cooperation protocol previously signed during a Jordanian delegation’s visit to Syria. The talks, attended by senior mining and cement union officials, focused on activating the agreement's terms and expanding joint coordination to better serve the interests of workers in both countries.
During the visit, the Syrian delegation was briefed on the operations of the Ministry of Labor’s permit office located at the GFJTU's headquarters. Officials reviewed the current procedures and regulatory framework for issuing work permits to Syrian laborers in Jordan.
The meeting underscores ongoing efforts to formalize labor movements and enhance organizational ties between the two neighboring states, particularly regarding the status of Syrian workers in the Jordanian labor market.
