Jordan to Mark 27th Royal Accession Anniversary Tomorrow

Amman, June 8 (Petra) -- The Kingdom will Tuesday celebrate the 27th anniversary of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s accession to the throne, a period widely associated with state modernization efforts and sustained institutional, economic and social development.

Since 1999, His Majesty the King has pursued a broad reform agenda aimed at strengthening state institutions, reinforcing the rule of law and advancing development across key sectors including the economy, education, healthcare and public services. His reign has also seen continued investment in national infrastructure projects and the modernization of the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army and security agencies.

Development initiatives launched under royal directives have extended across the Kingdom’s governorates and rural areas, focusing on improving living standards, expanding opportunities and supporting sustainable growth in education, industry and local productivity.

Healthcare has remained a central priority, with ongoing efforts to expand hospital capacity, improve medical services and strengthen social protection programs, particularly for lower-income groups.

On the political front, the King has emphasized democratic development, supporting the role of parliament and promoting governance reforms aimed at improving accountability and institutional performance. Economically, efforts have focused on stimulating growth, reducing unemployment and poverty, attracting investment and positioning Jordan as a regional hub for technology and innovation.

As Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, King Abdullah II has continued to prioritize military readiness, training and modernization of Jordan’s security institutions.

Regionally, he has maintained a consistent focus on Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian issue, which remains central to Jordan’s foreign policy, with continued calls for a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

Since the King assumed his constitutional powers, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah has played a leading role in supporting initiatives that complement his vision, particularly in education and development.

Through sustained engagement with communities, she has promoted entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment and youth participation, while backing a range of institutions working in education, health, family welfare and innovation.

Queen Rania also represents Jordan internationally, advocating for humanitarian causes, stronger protections for vulnerable groups and respect for international law, while highlighting the country’s cultural heritage and tourism potential on the global stage.
