Amman, April 27 (Petra) -- Jordan's food manufacturing sector is heading to North America as local companies prepare to showcase their products at the SIAL Canada exhibition in Montreal next Wednesday, in a move aimed at strengthening export opportunities and expanding international reach.
The Jordan Exporters Association (JEA), which is organizing the national participation, said the three-day event is one of the leading global platforms for the food industry, bringing together producers, buyers, and distributors from around the world.
Association President Ahmed Al-Khudari said Jordan’s presence at the exhibition is designed to promote the competitiveness of national food products and connect local companies with new trade partners, particularly in export markets. He noted that this will be Jordan’s 14th participation in the event.
A wide range of Jordanian food products will be displayed, including canned foods, coffee, spices, sweets, dates, beverages, and juices, reflecting the diversity of the country’s food manufacturing sector.
The exhibition is expected to attract more than 23,000 professional trade visitors from around the world, including importers, exporters, distributors, wholesalers, as well as representatives of retail chains, hotels, restaurants, and food service companies, providing an important platform for connecting producers with buyers in a direct business environment.
With more than 800 companies participating globally, the event will feature a broad mix of food products ranging from organic and health-focused items to frozen foods, baked goods, and innovative beverage solutions.
Al-Khudari stressed that the Canadian market offers strong potential for Jordanian exports, especially given the free trade agreement between the two countries, which helps facilitate smoother access for Jordanian goods.
He added that participation in such international events plays a key role in opening new markets and reinforcing Jordan’s position in the global food industry, particularly as demand rises for healthy and high-quality food products.
The association also highlighted its ongoing efforts to support Jordanian exporters through international exhibitions and business matchmaking activities across multiple global markets.
Director General Halim Abu Rahma said the participation aligns with a broader strategy to expand Jordan’s export footprint, particularly in North America, and to strengthen the global visibility of Jordanian food products.
He pointed to the importance of the Jordan–Canada free trade agreement in supporting trade flows by reducing barriers and improving market access.
The association, established in 1988, will continue organizing promotional activities for industrial exports across various sectors in countries including the United Arab Emirates, the United States, France, Canada, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.
Bilateral trade between Jordan and Canada reached JD131 million last year, with Jordanian exports accounting for JD 77 million.
