New York, July 7 (Petra) - Jordan and Trinidad and Tobago signed a joint statement to officially establish diplomatic relations on Monday, aimed to to strengthen bilateral ties.

During a ceremony held at headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Jordan to the United Nations in New York, Jordan's UN Permanent Representative, Walid Obeidat, and Neil Parsan, UN Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago, signed the statement.

The new partnership aims to "institutionalize" cooperation across political, economic, social, cultural, and scientific fields to serve the mutual interests.
