Jordan Welcomes UN Security Council Resolution Condemning Iranian Attacks

Amman, Mar.12 (Petra) -- Jordan welcomed the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, submitted by Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, which condemns the unjustified Iranian attacks targeting Jordan and the Arab Gulf countries. The resolution was presented by the Kingdom of Bahrain as the representative of the Arab group in the Security Council and was co-sponsored by 135 nations.
The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs described the resolution as a key demonstration of international consensus against Iranian aggression, reinforcing the sovereignty, security, and stability of Arab nations while ensuring the protection of their citizens. It is also seen as a step toward ending regional tensions.
The ministry stressed the importance of Iran adhering to international law and international humanitarian law and of halting attacks that threaten regional stability, reaffirming Jordan’s condemnation of Iranian strikes on its territory.
Jordan confirmed it will take all necessary measures to protect its citizens, sovereignty, and national security. The ministry also confirmed Jordan’s unwavering support for its Arab neighbors in confronting such aggression and backing any measures they take to safeguard their security, sovereignty, and citizens.
Jordan expressed gratitude for the broad Arab and international backing for the resolution and the strong solidarity shown with Jordan and the Arab Gulf states in the face of Iranian attacks.
