Amman, May 18 (Petra) -- The Rapid Intervention Battalion/Commandos 61, a unit of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Rapid Intervention Brigade, on Monday conducted a joint military exercise with British forces, the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) reported.
The brigade commander and the assistant commander of the British Joint Task Force in the Middle East attended the drill.
Held at designated training grounds, the exercise featured advanced field applications in urban warfare and close-quarters combat inside built-up areas. The tactical maneuvers simulated diverse combat environments, alongside live-fire drills using various light and medium weapons. The joint units also deployed unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for reconnaissance, surveillance, combat support, and battlefield command and control.
The military training aimed to elevate combat readiness, enhance mutual operational planning and execution, and develop rapid-response capabilities for emergency scenarios to align with the requirements of modern warfare. Additionally, the drill served to facilitate the exchange of military expertise and tactical field skills between the two allied armies.
The defense exercise forms part of the ongoing joint training programs and strategic frameworks conducted by JAF alongside regional and international partners. These initiatives are designed to boost field efficiency, optimize tactical readiness, and consolidate long-term military partnerships according to the highest professional standards.
