Amman, July 28 (Petra) -Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army neutralized 95 aerial threats launched from Iran between July 9 and July 25, which prevented civilian casualties and protected infrastructure across the Kingdom, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
Over the 16-day period, the Air Defense Systems and Royal Jordanian Air Force intercepted 70 ballistic missiles and 25 explosive-laden drones entering Jordanian airspace. Military units intercepted all targets over unpopulated areas, allowing daily life across the Kingdom to proceed without disruption.
Daily operations included "significant" interceptions on July 24, when air defenses downed seven missiles and six drones. On July 23, forces intercepted four missiles and six drones, while six missiles were neutralized on July 22.
Additional interceptions occurred consistently throughout mid-July, including 10 missiles and four drones downed on July 18, and eight missiles intercepted on July 9.
Alongside air defense operations, Border Guard units countered 11 illicit inflitration attempts along the northern, eastern, and southern borders. Forces intercepted and downed three remotely guided balloons and three drones attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Kingdom, confiscating their payloads. Border patrols also apprehended five individuals attempting illegal crossings.
In remarks to 'Petra," security and strategic expert Bashir Da'ja said the military’s response "reflected high operational readiness and effective early-warning capabilities." "The real measure of success is not the number of missiles intercepted, but the losses prevented," Da'ja said, adding that: "Every intercepted missile represents lives saved, critical infrastructure protected, and full control over Jordanian airspace." Meanwhile, Media Content Monitor Ohood Mohsen reminded media outlets and the public to rely solely on official sources for updates, warning against false or misleading information regarding national security operations.
