Amman, May 17 (Petra) – Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Sahar Shakhatreh, on Sunday checked on the impact of professional development programs, implemented under the "Developing Jordan’s Public School Educators" project.

The project is funded by the Canadian government, in partnership with the Ministry, at Al-Andalus Secondary Girls School in Amman's Marka district.

Shakhatreh was accompanied by the Canadian Ambassador to Jordan, Louis-Martin Aumais, and representatives from the Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA).

The visit featured classroom tours, student presentations and a dialogue session with a number of participants and graduates of the academy's programs.

The participants discussed impact of the training programs on developing educational and leadership practices, improving the school environment, and enhancing student learning.

Shakhatreh called for investing in building capacities of teachers and educational leaders, which contributes to raising learning quality and developing stimulating and safe learning environments.

She commended the existing partnership with the Canadian government and the academy in implementing quality programs that support public education.

During the visit, she also reviewed examples of modern classroom practices implemented by teachers who graduated from the Professional Diploma in In-Service Education and the School Networks Program.

These practices focus on integrating technology and interactive and inquiry-based teaching strategies into the classroom.

In turn, the Canadian ambassador affirmed his country's commitment to supporting the Kingdom's education sector and strengthening partnerships that contribute to developing teachers' capabilities and improving outcomes of the educational process.

"Developing Jordan’s Jordan’s Public School Educators" project aims to empower teachers and educational leaders and enhance their professional skills, which would "positively" impact the quality of education and student learning levels in public schools.
