Jordanian Social Democratic Party Hosts Youth Session on Political Empowerment

Amman, Feb 2 (Petra) - The Jordanian Social Democratic Party, represented by the coordinating committee of Shada "Social Democratic Youth," organized on Monday an introductory session at the party’s headquarters in Amman's Shmeisani area, in cooperation with the Political Institute for the Preparation of Youth Leaders, aimed at linking Jordanian youth with national opportunities that contribute to building their cognitive and political capacities, through the Youth Government and Youth Parliament programs.

The session highlighted the importance of empowering youth with political and institutional tools and connecting them to training and decision-making spaces, reflecting integration between partisan work and national programs in preparing aware youth leaders. The session was moderated by party General Council member Majd Al-Rawad and attended by a group of partisan and non-partisan youth from various governorates of the Kingdom.

At the outset of the session, Senator Mustafa Hamarneh stressed that the real battle is a battle of genuine, not false, awareness, emphasizing that partisan work is a political creed that requires struggle to implement party programs and reflect their impact on society.

He said that specialized skills contribute to developing partisan work and raising its programmatic level, that public policies shape identity, and that democracy is linked to people’s interests and awareness.

He added that an effective party member is based on a system of values, awareness, and a knowledge base, and deals with rights and duties as a responsible citizen, stressing that awareness is the product of interaction between internal and external factors, and that social responsibility is a fundamental pillar of political work.

For his part, Director of Projects at the Political Institute for the Preparation of Youth Leaders, Ahmad Akaileh, said the institute represents a national youth umbrella implemented by the Ministry of Youth, based on ideas, programs, and projects led by youth, from youth and to youth, in partnership with them, in addition to cooperation with a number of supporting ministries and national institutions.

Meanwhile, the institute’s Executive Coordinator, Raed Dabbas, explained that the institute implements a set of programs and projects aimed at engaging youth in public life and activating their role in the decision-making process, through the national program that includes the Jordanian Youth Government and Jordanian Youth Parliament projects, contributing to preparing young leaders capable of action and institutional participation.

Participants in the institute’s programs said that intensive training and direct meetings with decision-makers, in addition to the experience of youth governments, helped refine their political and partisan personalities and enhance their knowledge and skills. They noted that collective work and political differences do not undermine the national compass, but rather strengthen the culture of dialogue and debate and raise the level of awareness.

In the same context, Haneen Bani Amer, Rahaf Atiyeh, and Raedah Abu Sumrah highlighted their experiences at the institute, affirming that participation in its diverse programs constituted a qualitative addition at the cognitive and practical levels, and strengthened their belief in the role of Jordanian youth as an element of construction in the present and a maker of the future.
