Jordanian Student Wins Arab Youth Media Award for Journalistic Report

Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra) -- Jordanian student Rahaf Mohtaseb won first place in the Arab Youth Media Award "Ibda’a" in the journalistic reports category, as part of the Arab Media Summit organized by the Dubai Press Club.

Mohtaseb, a student in the Digital Media Department at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Applied Science Private University, received the award for her journalistic project, titled "Digital Child Labor: Behind Digital Fame, Childhood Managed Rather Than Lived," under the supervision of Dr. Saddam Mashaqbeh.

She received the award during the opening ceremony of the Arab Media Summit, held Wednesday at the Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in the presence of a number of media professionals, figures and institutions from the Arab media sector.

The project examines the negative effects of digital child labor on social media platforms, presenting it as one of the modern forms of child labor in the digital age. The report addresses the issue through an in-depth journalistic treatment with a human dimension, supported by data and modern digital media tools.

The award is presented as part of the Arab Media Summit, with the participation of students and academic and media institutions from various Arab countries. It aims to support young media talents and encourage them to develop innovative media projects addressing contemporary issues.
