London, July 25 (Petra) -- Foreign direct investment into Jordan jumped 25 percent over the past year, marking the Kingdom's fastest expansion in capital inflows since 2017 as global businesses seek stable operational bases near recovering Levant markets.

The figures, disclosed Thursday by Minister of Investment Tariq Abu Ghazaleh during an interview on the sidelines of the UK-Jordan Business Forum in London, point to a steadying economic trajectory for the Hashemite Kingdom despite broader regional volatility.

Speaking to Al Arabiya, Abu Ghazaleh said the ministry has seen a month-over-month increase in foreign corporate registrations, driven by companies seeking to leverage Jordan’s security profile, banking infrastructure, and geographic proximity to Syria and Iraq.

He noted that Jordan is consolidating its role as the primary service and logistics hub for cross-border reconstruction and trade, citing rising freight volumes and infrastructure upgrades at the Jaber border crossing with Syria.

The investment push coincides with a broader structural overhaul under Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision. According to government figures, annual gross domestic product growth accelerated to 3.0 percent over the past year, up from 2.7 percent, buoyed by legislative reforms aimed at cutting bureaucratic friction and lowering risk profiles for foreign joint ventures.

To sustain capital momentum, the Ministry of Investment has refreshed its national investment catalog, putting 100 benchmarked capital projects on the table. The pipeline targets key physical and digital infrastructure sectors, prioritizing logistics, technology, and capital markets integration.

In logistics and freight, anchor projects are centered on the proposed National Railway Network, designed to connect Jordan’s transit corridors to broader Middle Eastern trade lanes. Within technology and services, targeted incentives aim to leverage Jordan’s high density of engineering talent and liberalized digital trade laws. Meanwhile, capital markets initiatives focus on strategic tie-ups with international financial exchanges to deepen corporate liquidity.

During the London summit, Jordanian officials met with leaders at the London Stock Exchange to outline cross-listing opportunities and expand foreign portfolio participation in Amman-listed equities. British institutional investors expressed preliminary interest in Jordan’s financial services and high-end tourism assets, according to the ministry.

Amman’s outreach in London forms part of a wider effort to diversify its foreign investment sources away from traditional regional capital and deeper into Western markets.

The ministry confirmed it is organizing a Jordan-European Investment Summit scheduled for November, where it plans to market new public-private partnership frameworks and sign a series of bilateral commercial agreements.
