Amman, Nov. 25 (Petra) – The value of Jordanian exports to Syria more than tripled during the first nine months of 2025, increasing by 383.3 percent, driven by the resumption of trade activity between the two countries.

According to foreign trade data issued by the Department of Statistics on Tuesday, the value of Jordanian exports to Syria rose to JD 174 million, compared to JD 36 million for the same period last year, reflecting growing demand in the Syrian market for Jordanian goods.

Conversely, the value of Jordanian imports from Syria also increased, reaching approximately JD 72 million, compared to JD 42 million for the same period last year, representing a growth rate of 71.4 percent.

The total volume of trade between the two countries also recorded significant growth, reaching JD 264 million during the same period, compared to JD 78 million for the corresponding period last year.

Jordanian exports to Syria are primarily concentrated in the construction and building materials sector, including cement, iron, marble, tiles, paints, pipes, and electrical equipment, in addition to food items, agricultural products, and chemical products.

During talks held earlier in Damascus, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Qudah, and the Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Nidal Shaar, agreed to open import and export channels for all goods between the two countries, based on the principle of reciprocity, starting at the beginning of next year. The agreement is expected to boost trade volume and create broader opportunities for public and private sector cooperation in both Jordan and Syria.
