Tunis, Dec 14 (Petra) - Director General of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTV) Ibrahim Bawarid took part on Sunday in the 114th meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) in Tunis, in the presence of ASBU President Mohammed Fahad Al-Harthi, Director General Abdulrahim Suleiman, First Deputy Mohammed Al-Awash, and representatives of the Arab member organizations.

Bawarid told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the distinguished relationship linking the corporation with the union, as a member of both the Executive Council and the General Assembly, has contributed to achieving significant benefit from the services provided by the union, in addition to ongoing participation in its various activities.

He added that the meeting discussed a number of issues, notably those related to the union’s investments, budget and future projects, alongside a focus on technological development in the media field, particularly artificial intelligence. He expressed hope for crystallizing a clear and integrated Arab project that supports member organizations and enhances the advancement of artificial intelligence use in Arab media.

Bawarid noted that the meeting emphasized the importance of developing investment projects and maximizing their returns and resulting surpluses, with the aim of supporting key engineering projects related to audiovisual media. He said various proposals and projects would be presented to General Assembly meetings to take appropriate decisions on them in a manner that serves joint Arab media.

During the opening session, a report by the General Directorate was presented on its activities during the period between the 113th Executive Council meeting and the current 114th session. The report included projects submitted by the union to develop the Arab Music and Singing Competition, as well as a proposal to establish the Arab Audiobooks Group.

The report also reviewed the union’s plan in the radio and television programming field for 2026, and the implementation of a calendar for covering the most important events in the coming year.

According to the report, the volume of Arab news exchanges exceeded 14,000 news items during 2025, with the participation of 19 Arab organizations. At the level of the activity of the union’s Media Training Academy, 31 training courses were organized during the current year, benefiting 543 trainees representing 73 media organizations from 46 countries.
