Amman, Mar. 19 (Petra) – Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) announced continuation of its inspection tours and the receipt of complaints during the Eid al-Fitr holiday to regulate markets, ensure safety and quality of displayed products and protect consumer rights.

In a statement to "Petra" Thursday, the organization said 229 legal actions were taken during the holy month, including 128 confiscation and destruction orders for non-compliant products.

These included 3,850 non-compliant children's toys, 1,230 electrical extension cords, more than 1,000 decorative strings, and 350 non-compliant gas cookers.

Additionally, the legal actions included issuing 70 decisions to refer violating establishments to the Kingdom's judiciary, warning 16 entities, issuing 8 sales bans, and 7 orders to withdraw non-compliant products from the market.

The JSMO indicated that its inspection teams conducted hundreds of rounds of inspections during the holy month.

During thes campaigns, the JSMO processed 10,900 customs declarations, carried out 9,800 laboratory tests on various materials, verified 3,000 products, and visited approximately 1,000 economic establishments.

It confirmed inspection teams will continue working during the holiday period to verify weights, scales, pre-packaged goods, and garment and toy stores, as well as continuing rounds of inspections at fuel stations, tankers, and gas cylinder distributors in various governorates and districts of the Kingdom.

The JSMO stressed that it will not tolerate any violations of the Standards and Metrology Law No. (22) of 2000 and its amendments, as well as the relevant regulations and instructions, affirming that it will take the necessary legal measures against violators.

The JSMO urged citizens to cooperate and report any observations or complaints regarding products sold in the markets through the unified complaints hotline and WhatsApp number (065301243), the JSMO's website (www.jsmo.gov.jo), its social media pages, and the "Your Service" platform.
