Ramtha, May 18 (Petra) -- The 17th International Conference on Information and Communication Systems (ICICS 2026) commenced on Monday at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST).
The three-day event features extensive participation from global researchers, academics, and industry experts.
The conference serves as a specialized scientific platform for researchers and experts to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest developments in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, the Internet of Things, software engineering, and modern communications technologies, as well as broader advances in the information technology sector.
Representing the university president, Munir Bani Yassin, dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, and chairman of the conference, opened the event and said the conference had attracted a large number of research papers from countries around the world.
He said the submissions underwent peer review by specialized scientific committees, and a select group of high-quality papers was chosen for presentation in parallel technical sessions.
Bani Yassin said ICICS 2026 reflects the university’s role in supporting scientific research and strengthening international academic cooperation. He added that the university continues to consolidate its position as an active research center in technology, communications, and artificial intelligence by developing joint projects and building scientific partnerships with academic and research institutions worldwide.
The conference’s keynote speaker, Professor Omar Al-Jarrah, delivered a scientific lecture outlining an advanced vision for the use of enterprise artificial intelligence to build a smart and secure educational environment that supports personalized learning, with particular emphasis on security, privacy and institutional governance of artificial intelligence.
The second session focused on cybersecurity, privacy and digital forensics. Presentations addressed the development of methods for detecting cyber threats and phishing attacks, distinguishing between authentic and AI-generated content, advancing network intrusion detection techniques, and examining human factors that influence cybersecurity.
The third session covered health informatics and medical applications of artificial intelligence, highlighting modern solutions and approaches that support medical diagnosis and health data analysis, enhance the efficiency of healthcare services, and improve the quality of care.
The opening concluded with speakers emphasizing that the international conference reflects the distinguished scientific standing of Jordan University of Science and Technology as a regional and international center of excellence in research and innovation and its role in advancing scientific research and strengthening global academic partnerships.
