KHCC Receives FACT Accreditation for Bone Marrow Transplantation, Cellular Therapy Program

Amman, June 8 (Petra)-- The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) has been awarded accreditation by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), one of the most prestigious international accrediting bodies specializing in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. This achievement marks a significant milestone that further strengthens the Center’s position as a regional and international leader in providing advanced cancer care.

Dr. Phyllis Warkentin, Medical Director of FACT, stated: "We are pleased to accredit the Bone Marrow Transplantation Program at King Hussein Cancer Center following a series of on-site inspections conducted by the FACT accreditation team to verify the program’s compliance with international standards based on the latest scientific advances in bone marrow transplantation and Good Tissue Practice (GTP). The accreditation process also included a thorough review of the Center’s documentation and records, which demonstrated its full adherence to these standards." Dr. Asem Mansour, the CEO and Director General of King Hussein Cancer Center, commented: "Obtaining FACT accreditation represents an important milestone in the Center’s ongoing journey to strengthen its role as a leading regional cancer center, providing a level of care comparable to that offered by the world’s most advanced cancer treatment institutions. This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of our medical, nursing, and technical teams to maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety." Dr. Mansour also emphasized the importance of integrated institutional collaboration, noting that this accomplishment was made possible through the collective efforts of multidisciplinary teams from across the Center. He further affirmed that KHCC will continue investing in infrastructure development, enhancing workforce capabilities, and expanding specialized services in alignment with its mission and vision of providing patients with greater opportunities for treatment and recovery.

For his part, Dr. Hassan Hashem, Director of the Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program, explained that FACT accreditation serves as international recognition of the quality and excellence of the Center’s Bone Marrow Transplantation Program across all stages of care, from cell collection and processing to specialized clinical services.

He stated:"We are proud to have achieved these internationally recognized standards, which ensure the highest levels of patient care and safety. This accreditation reflects the quality of the program and its compliance with rigorous international standards, thereby strengthening confidence in its services and its ability to deliver advanced therapies for patients with hematologic diseases and cancer." Dr. Hashem noted that FACT is among the most specialized accreditation bodies in this field, conducting comprehensive evaluations of infrastructure, medical and nursing competencies, quality systems, risk management practices, laboratories, and cellular processing facilities. He added that FACT accreditation is widely regarded as the gold standard for quality and safety in cellular therapy and bone marrow transplantation.

Dr. Zaid Abdel Rahman, the FACT Accreditation Taskforce Leader, highlighted that FACT accreditation reflects years of continuous effort to establish, sustain, and advance a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement. "We view this achievement not as an endpoint, but as a foundation for sustained excellence and ongoing advancement in the quality of care and services provided to our patients," he concluded.
