King chairs new round of Aqaba Process initiative in UK

Berkshire, February 17 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday chaired a new round of the Aqaba Process initiative at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, according to a royal court statement. This round of meetings is being held, for the second time, on the subject of airspace management and the use of drones, with discussions covering ways to use modern systems to address shared challenges in this context, as well as cooperation and exchange of expertise to ensure the safety and efficiency of airspace use.

The sessions, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and experts and CEOs of specialised international companies, as well as representatives from several countries, covered the need to update relevant legislation and legal frameworks to keep pace with rapid technological advances in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles.

His Majesty launched the Aqaba Process initiative in 2015 with the aim of enhancing coordination, cooperation, and exchange of expertise between various regional and international parties. Previous rounds have been held in Jordan, and other countries and organisations in partnership with Jordan, including Spain, Albania, Indonesia, Italy, Brazil, Bulgaria, Rwanda, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Norway, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Nations.
