Ljubljana, Oct. 20 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II, during a meeting with Slovenia President Nataša Pirc Musar in Ljubljana on Monday, discussed the deep ties of friendship between Jordan and Slovenia, as well as the latest developments in the region.
During the meeting, held at Slovenia’s Presidential Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in various political and economic fields.
The King highlighted Slovenia’s important role in supporting efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, within the framework of the European Union.
The meeting covered regional developments, with His Majesty stressing the need to commit to the ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the implementation of all stages of the agreement to end the war, and ensure the flow of relief aid to all areas of the Strip to alleviate the dire humanitarian situation.
The meeting also touched on the situation in the West Bank and Gaza, with the two leaders emphasizing the need to work towards comprehensive calm, and to reject settlement building, which violates international law and undermines peace prospects.
For her part, President Pirc Musar affirmed her country’s commitment to developing relations with Jordan, and enhancing cooperation in the fields of digitalization, green technology, education, and humanitarian efforts.
She also praised Jordan’s significant role in supporting Palestinians through the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza, as well as facilitating the delivery of aid from Slovenia through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation.
The Slovenian president praised Jordan’s ongoing efforts to achieve peace, noting her country’s support for the two-state solution.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan’s non-resident Ambassador to Slovenia Mohammad Hindawi attended the meeting.
