Kuwait condemns Iranian attack on power and water facilities

Amman, July 19 (Petra) -- Kuwait strongly condemned the "criminal" Iranian attack carried out on Sunday that again targeted an electricity power station and a water desalination facility in the country.

In a statement carried by the official Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Kuwait's Foreign Ministry said the repeated deliberate targeting of vital infrastructure and civilian facilities reflects a systematic pattern of aggression and represents a highly dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the safety and security of civilians.

The ministry said the attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the United Nations Charter, and U.N. Security Council Resolution 2817, holding Iran fully responsible, both legally and morally, for the attacks and any resulting consequences.

Kuwait's Foreign Ministry stressed that the country reserves its full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and defend its territory and critical infrastructure against any attack or threat, based on its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and the rules of international law.
