Amman, July 29 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Labour finalized 22 collective labor agreements during the first six months of 2026, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen labor relations and resolve workplace issues across a broad range of industries.

According to ministry spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud, the Ministry’s Directorate of Labour Relations handled 28 labor disputes since the start of the year. The majority, 21 cases, were settled through direct negotiations between employers and workers, highlighting dialogue as the primary mechanism for resolving workplace conflicts.

One dispute was resolved during the conciliation process led by a ministry-appointed delegate, while two cases were decided by the Labour Court after progressing through the formal dispute-resolution system. Four disputes are still being processed.

The labor agreements and dispute resolution efforts involved several major sectors of the economy, including electricity, hospitality, mining, food manufacturing, textiles and garments, automotive trade, aviation, telecommunications, ports, railways, and beauty services.

Zyoud said Labour Law establishes a structured four-stage process for handling collective labor disputes. Cases begin with mediation by a ministry conciliation delegate. If no settlement is reached, the matter is referred to the Minister of Labour, followed by the Conciliation Council if necessary. Disputes that remain unresolved are ultimately referred to the Labour Court for a final ruling.
