Lawmakers Praise King’s Directives to Restructure Armed Forces

Amman, Jan. 24 (Petra) - In the context of the ongoing modernization and development of the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army, Royal directives issued by His Majesty King Abdullah II to devise a strategy and roadmap for achieving a structural transformation of the armed forces have received wide praise from leaders of the Lower House of Parliament.

Lawmakers said the directives represent a comprehensive strategic vision to enhance the efficiency and readiness of the armed forces in line with security challenges and regional and international developments and to reinforce the role of the Arab Army in safeguarding Jordan’s security and stability.

They stressed that the directives embody an advanced leadership vision aimed at building armed forces capable of confronting current and future threats and keeping pace with rapid technological developments, thereby strengthening the army’s professionalism and readiness to protect Jordan’s security and strategic interests.

First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House and his two assistants commended King Abdullah’s directives to prepare a strategy and roadmap for the structural transformation of the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army, describing them as a clear strategic vision to enhance efficiency and readiness in line with security challenges and regional and international changes.

First Deputy Speaker Khamis Atiyeh said the King’s message in this regard falls within a long-term strategic planning framework aimed at strengthening the armed forces’ ability to perform their national duty efficiently, improving performance, and maximizing the use of resources.

In a statement, he said the message represents a clear strategic vision to enhance efficiency and readiness in line with security challenges and regional and international developments.

Atiyeh added that King Abdullah, as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, consistently places the nation’s interests, security, and stability at the top of his priorities, noting that the royal message came within the framework of institutional development and modernization.

He stressed that the Lower House highly values the royal approach based on transparency and clarity in major national issues and affirms its full support for any steps that enhance and modernize the Arab Army, as the nation’s safety valve and protective shield.

He said the Arab Army will remain, as envisioned by the King, a solid national institution trusted by all Jordanians and capable of continuing its role in protecting Jordan and preserving its security and stability.

Assistant Speaker Maysoun Al-Qawabah also praised the King’s directives to restructure the armed forces in line with strategic changes and current requirements, saying they reflect a deep leadership vision aimed at enhancing efficiency, readiness, and the ability to safeguard national security and stability.

She said the Arab Army has always been a source of pride for Jordanians, noting that restructuring represents a qualitative step toward modernizing the military system, enhancing professionalism, and investing optimally in human resources in line with regional and international developments and ensuring the highest levels of readiness.

She stressed that the royal directives reflect the King’s constant commitment to developing the armed forces and enabling them to perform their national duty efficiently, underlining Jordanians’ unity around their Hashemite leadership and full support for efforts to strengthen and modernize the army.

Assistant Speaker MP Hala Al-Jarrah said the royal vision constitutes an integrated strategic framework for upgrading the armed forces’ capabilities in line with regional and international changes and enhancing the army’s ability to protect national security and stability.

She added that the roadmap reflects the wisdom of the Hashemite leadership and its commitment to building a professional military force capable of facing various challenges.

Al-Jarrah noted that the armed forces receive continuous royal attention in recognition of their central role in defending Jordan and safeguarding its achievements, as well as their active contribution to regional and international security and participation in humanitarian and relief missions.

She said the Lower House supports all royal efforts aimed at empowering the armed forces and providing them with the necessary resources to perform their national duties to the fullest, in appreciation of the sacrifices of army personnel and their honorable role in protecting the nation and its Hashemite leadership.
