Amman, March 12 (Petra) -- The Investment World for Development and Technology (IWDT), a technology-driven solutions provider, on Thursday launched the SmartGreenEcos project in Jordan, a regional initiative aimed at advancing smart and sustainable practices in the dairy industry. The event introduced the project to local companies and outlined opportunities for participation.
Funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED program, SmartGreenEcos seeks to create a smart-green ecosystem supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the food sector in Jordan, Greece, Cyprus, and Tunisia. The initiative focuses on enhancing competitiveness, accelerating digital transformation, and promoting sustainability across food industry operations.
In Jordan, the project specifically targets the dairy manufacturing sector. Selected companies will join a structured support program designed to improve operational efficiency, optimize resource management, and enhance readiness to meet market standards and evolving consumer demands.
During the launch event, the IWDT, serving as the implementing partner in Jordan, invited companies across the dairy value chain, including production and manufacturing firms, product developers, and farms, to register interest in the program. Participants will engage with the project team through assessments, workshops, pilot programs, and ongoing technical guidance to implement measurable operational improvements.
Rana Abu Zeid, the IWDT General Manager, said the project delivers practical, results-oriented support that enables companies to enhance performance and embed sustainability practices. Through digital tools and hands-on guidance, SmartGreenEcos helps companies convert development strategies into tangible improvements, strengthening efficiency and long-term competitiveness, she said.
The project addresses key challenges facing the dairy sector, including rising production and energy costs, supply chain disruptions, and increasing quality and compliance requirements. By leveraging digital platforms and applied methodologies, companies can evaluate performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement actionable development measures.
Participating firms will gain access to integrated digital platforms, including an AI-driven performance and optimization tool, a capacity-building and knowledge-sharing platform, a digital procurement and supply chain system to enhance efficiency and collaboration, and a collaborative product development platform to support innovation and accelerate market entry for new products.
These tools will be complemented by practical workshops and pilot programs, allowing companies to implement improvements directly within their operational processes.
The initiative is part of a broader regional partnership involving institutions across Mediterranean countries, aiming to foster joint innovation, share best practices, and promote the adoption of smart and sustainable methods across the food industry.
