Malaysia ear marks $400,000 for Palestinian relief in Jerash, Gaza

Amman, Sept. 15 (Petra) - The Malaysian government announced on Tuesday an additional USD400,000 in humanitarian aid through the Humanitarian Trust Fund for the People of Palestine (AAKRP) to bolster healthcare and combat food insecurity among vulnerable and displaced Palestinians.

At an official ceremony at the Malaysian Embassy in Amman, Ambassador Dato’ Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman handed over two USD200,000 checks to aid partners, pledging continued relief for urgent Palestinian needs.

"Through the AAKRP, Malaysia continues to extend meaningful humanitarian assistance to Palestinian communities," he said. "Whether supporting access to healthcare for refugees in Jerash Camp or providing emergency food assistance to vulnerable communities in Gaza, Malaysia remains committed to contributing towards efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering in partnership with trusted humanitarian organisations." American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) was granted USD200,000 to support its SHIFAA Programme, which delivers critical medical and social services to residents of the Gaza (Jerash) Refugee Camp in Jordan.

ANERA Deputy Country Director Nourhan Shuqman thanked Malaysia for the financial support, stating that the funds will better local healthcare operations and provide critical medical services to camp families.

A second USD200,000 grant was presented to World Central Kitchen (WCK) to support the preparation and delivery of hot meals to displaced populations across the Gaza Strip.

Accepting the check for WCK, Financial Department Head Noor Deen Ramadan noted that Malaysia's contribution will help expand daily hot meal operations for displaced families facing severe food shortages in Gaza.
