Amman, April 9 (Petra) -- Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal, chair of the board of trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, the 8th International Congress of the Jordanian Association of Psychiatrists and the Conference on Supporting Mental Health in Gaza opened in Amman.

The 2 conferences brought together leading physicians, experts, and specialists from Jordan and abroad and were organized by the Jordanian Association of Psychiatrists, underscoring Jordan's leading role in advancing mental health services and strengthening the response to growing needs, particularly in light of current humanitarian challenges.

Conference President Alaa Froukh praised Princess Ghida's prominent role in supporting Jordan's health sector and her leadership in advancing quality initiatives to develop comprehensive care services, with a particular focus on integrating mental health into the broader care system.

He highlighted Jordan's continued efforts to support the Palestinian cause and its initiatives, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, alongside the King's ongoing directives to strengthen medical and relief response efforts.

The conferences aim to promote scientific exchange, keep pace with the latest developments in psychiatry, and support regional efforts to develop effective and sustainable mental health policies that serve communities affected by crises.
