Amman, Jan. 4 (Petra) -- Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Sunday affirmed the charitable associations sector in Jordan represents a "cornerstone" of Jordan's social and developmental work.
Bani Mustafa said this sector plays "pivotal" role in supporting the most vulnerable groups, promoting social solidarity, and strengthening partnership with state institutions to achieve sustainable social development.
Bani Mustafa said orphan-related issues receive special attention from His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.
In this regard, she said this Royal approach aims to provide comprehensive care and build a safe and dignified future for orphans.
She stressed that prphan-based care is a "shared" national responsibility requiring integrated efforts by leadership, government, and civil society to build a more cohesive and just society.
The minister made the remarks during a visit to Dar Al-Ihsan Association for Orphan Care and Rehabilitation, attended by Marka District Governor Ahmad Zboun, members of the association’s administrative board, staff, and a number of beneficiary mothers and families.
Bani Mustafa commended the association’s "pioneering" role as a model of institutional charitable work and its effective programs aimed at caring for and empowering orphans.
On the legislative side, she noted the draft amended Associations Law is part of efforts to modernize Jordan's charitable work by enhancing governance and transparency, improving performance efficiency, ensuring sustainability, and maximizing social impact.
She indicated that Jordan's charitable associations are the ministry’s "key and strategic" and field partners in implementing social programs and achieving equitable service delivery across the Kingdom.
For his part, Dar Al-Ihsan Director General Masoud Hindiya reviewed the association’s activities since its establishment in 2014, which currently support 138 families comprising 540 orphans and widows, as well as sponsoring around 2,500 orphans on a monthly basis and providing a range of care, rehabilitation, and life-skills training services.
Hindiya expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Social Development’s support to the charitable sector through streamlined procedures and incentives for voluntary work. During the visit, a video screening highlighted the association’s history, mission, and future vision.
Bani Mustafa also toured the association’s educational center serving orphans and mothers and visited two beneficiary families residing in housing units affiliated with Dar Al-Ihsan.
