Minister Highlights Nurseries' Role in Family Stability, Women's Economic Participation

Amman, Aug. 16 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa on Sunday highlighted the nursery sector's role in supporting family stability, advancing women's economic participation and providing quality early childhood services.

During a meeting with the head and members of the Nursery Owners Syndicate, Bani Mustafa underscored the ministry's efforts to support and encourage the establishment of more nurseries across the Kingdom, ensuring that quality childcare services reach the broadest possible segment of families.

Bani Mustafa also stressed the importance of investing in early childhood development, noting its positive impact on children's developmental, psychological, social and educational well-being by providing safe and stimulating environments during their formative years.

She called for expanding nursery programs to include inclusive services for children with disabilities from an early age, in cooperation with relevant national institutions, given the long-term benefits of early support for children with disabilities.

The minister pointed to the ministry's efforts to bring nursery caregivers under social work licensing requirements and provide them with specialized training. The initiative aims to improve service quality, strengthen competitiveness in the nursery sector and enhance the efficiency of childcare services in line with best practices.

Bani Mustafa commended the Nursery Owners Syndicate for its efforts to organize and regulate nursery operations within institutional and professional frameworks, contributing to the sector's continued and sustainable development.

For his part, syndicate head Mohammad Momani welcomed the ministry's efforts to support the establishment of the syndicate, describing it as an institutional framework that contributes to improving childcare services and advancing women's economic participation.

He also praised the ministry's role in encouraging and facilitating the establishment of additional nurseries across the Kingdom.

Established in March 2026, the Nursery Owners Syndicate aims to develop and regulate the early childhood sector, improve nursery services, support and train sector workers, and promote compliance with quality and safety standards. Its efforts are also aimed at advancing early childhood development and supporting children and families.
