Amman, Oct. 27 (Petra) -- Minister of Labor and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), Khalid Al-Bakkar, honored the Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Morocco, Jumana Ghunaimat, in recognition of their efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of vocational training.

The ceremony, held at the VTC headquarters, follows the signing earlier this month of a landmark cooperation agreement between the Jordanian Vocational Training Corporation and Morocco’s Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT). The agreement aims to establish the first Jordanian-Moroccan Center of Excellence for Vocational Training in Amman.

The new institute will be constructed on an 11-dunum plot along Airport Road and developed in three phases. It represents a significant step in fostering practical collaboration between Jordan and Morocco to enhance vocational education and workforce readiness.

Al-Bakkar highlighted that the agreement reflects the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two nations and the royal directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who continue to support initiatives that empower youth and promote sustainable employment.

He added that the partnership leverages Morocco’s distinguished expertise in vocational training and apprenticeship programs, providing a framework for knowledge transfer and capacity building to improve the skills of Jordanian youth.

The center will initially offer programs in key sectors, including healthcare and pharmaceuticals, electric and hybrid vehicle maintenance, precision electrical systems, digital skills, and Moroccan culinary and hospitality arts. The agreement also provides for exchange programs, allowing Jordanian trainees to benefit directly from Morocco’s advanced vocational training experience.

The initiative is expected to mark a new era in Jordan’s vocational training landscape, equipping young Jordanians with the skills needed to compete effectively in both local and regional labor markets.
