Minister of Social Development conducts visit to underprivileged families, care centres in Ajloun

Ajloun, (Petra) – Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa conducted a field visit to several underprivileged families, orphans and persons with disabilities in Ajloun as part of the Ministry's approach to direct monitoring and on-the-ground evaluation of programmes and services.

Bani Mustafa said the field visits aim to improve service quality and ensure accessibility for targeted groups, underscoring the importance of cooperation with associations and volunteer centres as key partners in implementing social programmes.

She noted that the Ministry is working to develop shelter and care services by adopting clear quality standards that ensure a safe environment and comprehensive services for beneficiaries as per the applicable regulations and in coordination with relevant authorities.

The tour included a visit to the volunteer orphan care centre affiliated with Umm Al-Raja’a (House of Hope) in the Anjara district, which operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Development and provides care for orphans and children from broken homes.

The Minister reviewed the services and programmes offered at the centre, as well as the orphan and family home facilities. She visited the Lady of the Mountain Basic Mixed School, founded in 1890, which operates within the Umm Al-Raja’a centre.

Bani Mustafa visited the Al-Amani Charitable Society for Family and Child Protection, where she reviewed several income-generating projects, including a production kitchen, a revolving loan project funded by the Jordan River Foundation and a women's salon.

She discussed the role of initiatives in supporting families and improving living conditions and directed relevant ministry officials to study ways to further develop and support projects to enhance services provided to the local community.

In the Baoun area, the Minister visited the Yanbu Al-Khair Charitable Society, where she reviewed its services and instructed ministry officials to follow up on the development of existing projects, including the Aisha Al-Baouniya Model Kindergarten affiliated with the society to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children and better serve the local community.

In the Ashtafina area, Bani Mustafa toured the Ministry's Al-Rawabi Local Community Development Centre, established in 2004, which includes the Trust Fund project, the Oasis Curriculum and Knowledge Stations.

She reviewed the development programmes implemented at the centre and their positive impact. She discussed establishing an early intervention unit to serve persons with disabilities under the age of 6. During the visit, the Minister met with several underprivileged families, orphans and persons with disabilities, directing relevant ministry officials to provide urgent in-kind and cash assistance and to assess their needs, including home maintenance and repairs, within available resources.

Bani Mustafa concluded her tour by handing over a house to an underprivileged family in the Awsara area, as part of the Ministry's housing programme for needy families.

Members of Parliament Wasfi Haddad, Ferial Bani Salman and Abdul Halim Ananbeh commended the Ministry's efforts, highlighting the importance of field visits in supporting social and developmental work and improving service.

The Minister was accompanied on the tour by Secretary-General of the Ministry Barq Dmour, Director-General of the National Aid Fund Khitam Shneikat, Deputy Governor of Ajloun Muhammad Hussami and several officials from the Ministry of Social Development and the National Aid Fund.
