Amman, July 22 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Labour intensified its enforcement efforts during the first half of 2026, conducting thousands of workplace inspections that uncovered widespread labor law violations while resolving a significant number of worker complaints across the Kingdom.
Figures released by the ministry’s Central Inspection Directorate show that inspectors carried out 15,866 field visits covering businesses in all governorates and across various economic sectors. The inspections resulted in 5,727 warnings and 2,766 violations issued to employers that failed to comply with the Labour Law and related regulations. The ministry also launched 18 targeted inspection campaigns focusing on selected industries.
Worker grievances remained a key focus of the ministry’s activities. A total of 5,268 complaints were filed through labor inspection offices, while another 1,864 complaints were submitted via the ministry’s online Himaya (Protection) platform.
Mediation efforts led to the settlement of 1,457 cases, helping employees recover outstanding rights and resolve disputes with employers. Meanwhile, 1,140 complaints were still under review, and 482 violations were recorded against establishments that failed to comply with ministry directives.
Unpaid wages continued to dominate the complaints received, with 2,241 cases involving salary disputes. Other frequently reported issues included objections to legal procedures, dismissal from open-ended employment contracts, failure to issue certificates of experience, and employee suspensions.
The ministry also continued its campaign against child labor, identifying 96 cases during the reporting period. Enforcement measures included 109 warnings and 35 violations, alongside 36 awareness activities aimed at preventing underage employment. The ministry’s dedicated online reporting platform received 14 reports related to child labor.
Compliance with workplace childcare requirements was another area of inspection. Teams visited 752 establishments to assess whether employers had provided nurseries for employees’ children where required by law. The inspections resulted in 61 warnings and 13 violations against non-compliant businesses.
In the area of foreign labor, authorities issued 315 deportation orders for non-Jordanian workers during the first six months of the year. At the same time, deportation decisions for 155 workers were revoked, while 89 additional cases were cancelled after the applicable cancellation fees were paid.
The ministry also reported resolving 129 complaints involving domestic workers, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen labour protections and improve compliance with employment regulations.
