Irbid, Feb. 21 (Petra) - Minister of Youth Raed Adwan launched the 2026 Ramadan Youth Centers Futsal Championship at Yarmouk University on Saturday, organized by the Ministry of Youth across all governorates, with the participation of 437 teams represented by 4,370 players and 847 administrators.

Adwan said the championship is part of a set of activities organized by the ministry during the holy month of Ramadan, which aim to invest in youth time and promote sports culture among them.

He noted that the tournament coincides with the Kingdom’s celebrations of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s birthday and carries the slogan "No to Drugs" in support of national efforts to combat the scourge of drugs through sports activities.

For his part, Northern Jordan Valley District Governor Khaled Al-Kasasbeh praised the Ministry of Youth's role in organizing sporting events that strengthen youth belonging and empowerment by launching qualitative initiatives and providing programs and platforms that develop their skills and open horizons for creativity and excellence.

The event included a patriotic artistic segment presented by singer Omar Al-Saqar, in addition to a folklore performance by the Rahoub Troupe to revive Jordanian heritage.

During the opening match between the Irbid Central Youth team and Al-Shuna team, the audience raised banners bearing the slogan "No to Drugs" in support of national efforts to raise community awareness of the danger of this scourge to individuals and society.

The activities also include various tournaments in chess, table tennis, and basketball, in addition to an integrated package of volunteer programs and activities targeting youth time investment and promoting the values of solidarity and citizenship across the kingdom’s governorates.
