Zarqa, July 28 (Petra) -- A new mixed-use investment project in Zarqa is being developed to include hospitality, commercial, healthcare, and entertainment facilities, with the aim of supporting investment activity and economic development in the governorate. The Miras project, developed by the Amman Logistics Company, represents an investment of around $100 million and is being implemented in King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz City (East City).
Acting Zarqa Governor Mohi Al-Deen Adwan visited the project site and reviewed its progress, development phases, investment components, and expected economic impact. The visit was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Investment, the Jordan Islamic Bank, which is financing the project, the National Resources Investment and Development Corporation, along with government officials and economic representatives.
Miras is among the largest multi-use investment projects in Zarqa and is the first project in the governorate to apply green building standards.
Adwan said the government continues to support investment and remove obstacles facing investors, noting the readiness of official institutions to address challenges affecting investment projects and support initiatives that contribute to economic activity and job creation.
Ahmed Hussein Tamimi, General Manager of Amman Logistics, said the project will be developed in three phases to create an integrated investment destination covering several sectors.
The first phase includes the establishment of the four-star Miras Hotel, which will feature 68 rooms, conference and meeting halls, event facilities, a main restaurant, cafes, a health club, sports facilities, and other services.
The second phase will focus on Miras Boulevard, which will include retail outlets, restaurants, cafes, and areas designated for events. The third phase will include a specialized hospital equipped with modern medical technologies, as well as an integrated entertainment city.
Tamimi said the project is the first in Zarqa to implement green building standards, explaining that these standards increased construction costs by about 30 percent compared with conventional buildings. However, they contribute to reducing energy and water consumption, lowering operational and maintenance costs, extending the operational lifespan, and increasing the investment value of buildings.
He said the project is expected to create more than 7,000 direct and indirect jobs upon completion of all phases and will support several sectors, including construction, transport, logistics, tourism, hospitality, trade, and healthcare.
MP Dr. Hail Ayash said the project represents an important investment addition for Zarqa and will contribute to economic activity and employment opportunities, stressing the importance of continuing to facilitate the required procedures for its completion within the planned timeframe.
Iman Al-Shababat, Director of Real Estate at the National Resources Investment and Development Corporation and a member of the governorate committee, highlighted the project's importance for Zarqa, particularly due to its adoption of green building concepts.
Imad Al-Alqa, Executive Director of Eco Engineering and Energy Solutions (EcoSol), said the project applies green building standards in accordance with international standards, helping improve energy and water efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, enhance operational performance, and increase the investment value of real estate assets.
