National Employment Program concludes 61,580 subsidized work contracts since Mid-2022

Amman, Oct. 11 (Petra) – The Ministry of Labor announced 2,778 families have moved off the National Aid Fund (NAF)’s financial assistance rolls, following the provision of sustainable job opportunities for their members through the National Employment Program since mid-2022.

In a statement Sunday, the ministry spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud stated the program continues to achieve "tangible" results in boosting the labor market participation of target groups.

He noted that a total of 61,580 subsidized employment contracts were concluded as women securing 31,565 of the total figure, representing 51.2%, which reflects the program's commitment to women's economic empowerment.

Regarding the breakdown of beneficiaries, both individuals and private sector companies, by region, Zyoud indicated that the Kingdom's Northern Region saw 21,302 individuals and 597 companies benefit from the opportunities, while the Central Region recorded 34,462 beneficiary individuals and 985 companies.

In the Southern Region, he said 5,816 individuals and 289 companies benefited.

He also noted that the total number of establishments registered with the program has risen to 3,766, spanning various economic sectors and activities.

On training and capacity building areas, Zyoud said 53,190 employees received training in job-related skills, while another 11,527 took training in workplace skills and occupational health and safety, in cooperation with the Vocational Training Corporation.

He emphasized that these efforts contribute to enhancing employment sustainability and workforce development.

As part of efforts to introduce the program’s services and strengthen networking across various sectors, he noted that the program management conducted 6 introductory activities and meetings last July across most of the Kingdom’s governorates.

He said these initiatives aimed to expand partnerships, enhance youth readiness for the labor market, and introduce them to available opportunities and career paths.
