Amman, Nov. 10 (Petra) – The National Team for Family Protection from Violence, chaired by the Secretary-General of the National Council for Family Affairs Mohammad Miqdadi, held a technical workshop to present and discuss proposals for the team’s governance guide and its main components.
The workshop sought to develop a comprehensive and integrated operational mechanism that regulates the team’s roles and responsibilities within a legislative and institutional framework, in line with the principles of good governance and aimed at ensuring sustainable performance and greater coordination of efforts.
As part of the first phase of the project, implemented in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and under the supervision of the National Team for Family Protection from Violence, an analytical report was prepared to assess the team’s operational mechanism. The report identified strengths, challenges, and opportunities for development within the governance framework, and reviewed the existing legislative, institutional, and regulatory structures.
Based on the report’s findings, recommendations were formulated, and a framework was developed containing a set of proposals to be incorporated into the final version of the guide. Work is also underway to update the operational mechanism to activate the team’s roles, responsibilities, and committees, and to provide the necessary tools for implementing its mandate in a way that enhances the national protection system at both the institutional and national levels.
The National Team for Family Protection from Violence operates under the umbrella of the National Council for Family Affairs and reflects a national institutional approach to formulating policies on family protection from violence. It defines the roles and responsibilities of service providers assisting victims of violence, as the team includes representatives from governmental and private institutions active in the field of protection.
The team’s responsibilities include monitoring service providers’ adherence to its decisions on policies, strategies, and legislation related to family protection; studying and tracking national priorities in the field of protection; and overseeing the implementation of the National Framework Document for Family Protection from Violence and the resulting procedures.
