New garment factory in Ma'an's Adhruh district to provide 400 jobs for Jordanians

Amman, June 21 (Petra) – An agreement was signed on Sunday at the Ministry of Labor to establish a new satellite branch, a garment factory, in Manshiyya area of Adhruh District in southern Ma'an governorate, creating 400 jobs for Jordanians.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Labor Dr. Khaled Bakkar, Mayor of Ash'ari Municipality, which runs Manshiyya area, Abdullah Tawreh, and Eric Tang, Head of Operations of Jordan, Jerash Holdings (US), Inc.

Talking at the signing ceremony, Bakkar stated establishment of this new facility increases the number of satelitte branches in Ma'an Governorate and its districts to 8, raising the number of employees from the governorate to approximately 1,200.

To date, he noted this expansion brings the total number of satellite branches across the Kingdom to 39.

Bakkar stated expansion of satellite branches, which are factories in various sectors, came in accordance with royal directives to increase job opportunities for Jordanians in all governorates to promote development, and alleviate the financial burden on workers by establishing these projects near their homes.

The minister said, under this agreement, the investor will receive capital support from the government amounting to JD1 million and operational support of JD792,000 to employ 400 Jordanian men and women from Adhruh district in Ma'an.

He stressed that the primary partner in establishing and expanding these satellite branches is the private sector, which the government is working to empower to provide more job opportunities for Jordanian youth.

Bakkar commended the cooperation of municipalities, including Ash'ari Municipality, in providing land to facilitate attracting investors to establish satelitte branches in the governorates.

For his part, Tang praised the role of the government and the Ministry of Labor in enabling the private sector to provide job opportunities for Jordanians in the districts nationwide.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Ash'ari Municiplaity, Abdullah Tawreh, emphasized the developmental role of municipalities and their commitment to cooperating with the Ministry of Labor to establish projects that provide job opportunities for residents of the governorates.

He noted Ash'ari Municipality is keen to facilitate investors' work, who contribute to increasing employment for the area's residents.
